TERRALHA | Festival of European Ceramics

Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie is the capital of ceramics! The Cultural Office has been organising the Festival Terralha every year in this globally renowned potter’s village, since 1984.

What’s the festival all about? It is about showcasing “Terralha” (which literally means “earthenware pot”) to visitors who are either new to this art or already passionate about it! The festival is mainly centred around European ceramics: the goal is to “combine the different European forms of artistic and cultural expression in the field of ceramics.”

An established annual event for contemporary ceramic arts from France and abroad.

The European Ceramic Festival invites 20 European ceramic artists to exhibit in unusual and private places.

As you wander through the village's narrow streets, TERRALHA is an opportunity to push open the door of a shady courtyard, a lush garden or a vaulted historic building to discover a unique ceramic universe. The originality of this event lies in part in the novelty of the exhibition venues "outside the walls".

Moreover, TERRALHA is also a rich program: immersive pottery workshops, artistic performances, film screenings, exhibitions at the Museum of Mediterranean Pottery, at the Terra Viva Gallery.

TERRALHA offers a unique and lively showcase of European ceramic creation. It will be of interest to professionals looking for trends, but will also appeal to a public of curious amateurs.

For the event, around twenty carefully-selected European artists are invited to come and exhibit their artworks in the streets of the village. If you would like to come and meet them, don’t hesitate to venture into the shaded courtyards or under the archways. You’ll be able to admire their creations and chat to them about their techniques and expertise. You can expect an artistic tour of the village during this festival, that over the years, has become one of the unmissable events in ceramic art in Europe!
